In 2019, there are many options to stream locals online\u2014from Locast, which steams locals for free in a few markets, to live TV streaming services like PlayStation Vue, DIRECTV NOW, and Hulu. But even now an antenna is more important than ever before.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why is an antenna so important<\/a> with your cord cutting set up? Here are the top 5 reasons why everyone should have an antenna as a part of their cord cutting solution.<\/span><\/p>\n

1) More Channels<\/b><\/h2>\n

Often when people think of OTA TV they think of ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC; however, there is so much more out there. PBS, ION, and The CW are probably the other networks most cord cutters know, but there are even more. Just this year several new OTA TV stations launched including new stations from CBS.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recently the CEO behind the Tablo DVR said the average Tablo DVR user gets more than 40 locals. Many are great channels such as MeTV, Antenna TV, Comet TV, Escape, and Laff, which air quality content from the past and current shows – all 100% free.<\/span><\/p>\n

2) No Blackouts & No Outages<\/b><\/h2>\n

Streaming is still a fairly new technology, and it often struggles with blackouts and outages. The good news is every week these are become fewer and fewer. There is also a built-in delay for the signal to go from your local station to your provider and back down to you.
