TV for free

Most people are unaware that it's now possible to receive FREE High Definition and Digital broadcasts over-the-air (OTA) using a simple antenna connected to your television set!

Because of the Digital TV (DTV) transition that was finalized on June 12, 2009, all full power television stations converted to an all-digitalbroadcast which offers some of the best picture qualities possible. It is important not to confuse OTA DTV with analog broadcasts from the past. OTA DTV provides high definition broadcasts, sub-channels (more channels!), digital resilience and no static. A great resource for viewing OTA DTV programming in your area is TitanTV.

What does OTA DTV mean for the consumer?

We can finally say goodbye to those exorbitant and insulting cable and satellite bills and begin watching TV on our own terms! Our family receives our favorite shows on ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS and FOX (for FREE) using Mohu's Leaf antenna and we stream movies, kids shows, TV episodes and documentaries from Netflix for $7.99 per month. Our cable bill dropped from $168 per month to $34 per month (cost of broadband services) and our satisfaction could not be higher. The picture quality of the FREE OTA broadcasts far exceed what I was paying the cable company for - and we aren't forced to pay for channels that we do not watch. If anything, our television viewing experience has been enriched and modernized, all instigated by the greed of our cable service provider.

There is a growing movement on the horizon with a very simple agenda: change the way America watches television. With the coming of age of ipads, netbooks, internet connected TVs, and internet connected video game consoles - cable and satellite providers will likely follow the death spiral of landlines as more and more viewers look for higher value alternatives. More and more major cable and satellite service providers are recording record losses that appear to be growing from quarter to quarter.
