The Cordcutter Chronicles: Your weekly dose of what’s happening in cord cutting

ATSC 3.0 is Coming This Year

One of the biggest announcements at the NAB Show last week was that the new next gen over-the-air TV standard is rolling out to 40 stations this year. ATSC 3.0 is the new TV standard that will bring a ton of new features to over-the-air TV, including 4K.

And Mohu’s HQ in Raleigh is one of the areas getting the new ATSC 3.0 TV!

NBA Playoffs

The NBA Playoffs started on Saturday, with most of the games broadcasting on ABC — including the finals! And the good news is you can watch it all without a pay TV subscription.

New Findings from Cordcutting Study

Research by MRI-Simmons recently found that 31 million Americans have never paid for a cable or satellite service. That means that 12% of the US adult population are “Cord Nevers” – up from 9% in 2017.

Rescan Your Antenna for New Channels

It was recently announced that several new over-the-air channels are launching in 2019, including the return of Court TV. New OTA stations are launching all the time, so it’s good practice to rescan your antenna each month for channel updates — you never know what you may find!

Also, some stations might have switched channel numbers so it’s important to regularly rescan your antenna for the latest updates.
