Mohu at SXSW Music Film Interactive

Mohu’s Bringing Cord Cutting, HiFi Audio to SXSW 2016

You may recall that we were a sponsor and active participant in Hopscotch Music Festival 2015, which took place here in our backyard of Raleigh, NC this past fall. It was such a great experience for our team, both in terms of exposure to a wide array of great music and arts as well as interacting face-to-face with so many awesome personalities. We were eager to spread the message of cutting the cable cord as well as showcase our exciting new audio product, BeBox, and we were excited to see that enthusiasm reciprocated by all the fine folks who paid our booth a visit.

Because of that experience, we’ve decided to up the ante and will be packing up and heading west in a few days to beautiful and vibrant Austin, TX for SXSW 2016. In case you aren’t familiar, SXSW is one of the longest running and most event-packed festivals/conferences in the US. Now in its 30th year, it’s a full-blown Music, Film, and Interactive/Tech festival attracting more than 70,000 attendees. Its an exciting atmosphere of creativity and innovation.

We’re looking forward to delicious beef brisket (a worthy competitor to our own NC BBQ), more great music, insightful sessions, and most importantly, showing a ton of people how easy it is to cut the cord while still enjoying all of your favorite movies, TV shows, sports, and more without the burden of a lengthy contract or excessive costs.

Mohu Experience at the SXSW 2016 Trade Show

If you’re one of the 72,000 registered to attend this year’s festival, we’d love to meet you. We’ll be on the Trade Show floor from March 13-March 16 at stands 338 and 340 (they’re side-by-side, so it’s really just one big booth). We have some exciting things up our sleeves, some I can reveal here and some you’ll have to see for yourself at the festival (or online afterwards). So, what can you expect?

Personalized Cord Cutting Sessions

We’ve developed a totally custom resource that we’re launching at SXSW before we unleash it to the world that will allow us to walk folks through the entire process of cutting the cord from start to finish. We’ll first analyze what your current TV/entertainment setup is, what you watch, and what your budget is, then we’ll go through the best solutions available to meet your entertainment needs without requiring cable or satellite subscriptions.

Once we walk through these steps using our custom online resource, we’ll then show you the most ideal recommendations as far as equipment and streaming services go to meet those needs at a cost that will save you big over the long-run. From an over-the-air TV antenna to a streaming stick or streaming box to Netflix or Sling TV, whatever suits your needs, we’ll help you find.

Hands-on with BeBox

Music is a fundamental aspect of SXSW and its continued growth and success over the last three decades. It continues to serve as a platform for showcasing well-known talents in the industry as well as new and diverse musical talents. I mean, this thing is huge – more than 2,200 musical acts performed at last year’s festival.

So, we thought what better place to showcase BeBox and its high-fidelity audio capabilities than at one of the largest music festivals in the world?

Do a Cord Cutting Session, Enter to Win Your Ideal Setup

If you come see us on the Trade Show floor and take the time to participate in a cord cutting session, you’ll be entered to win whatever cord cutting package is recommended for you based on your viewing needs. Whether that’s a Leaf Metro, a Leaf 30, Leaf 50, Sky 60, no antenna at all, a Roku or a Fire TV Stick or Apple TV. Whatever equipment you need to cancel your cable TV subscription (or to fill the void if you’ve already canceled), we’ll give you.

Looking forward to seeing you in Austin! And if you can’t make it to the festival in-person, follow us on Twitter and Facebook for updates from the festival. Right here on The Cordcutter is your source for major updates as well once we return to the East Coast.
